Take a WEEKEND en español® One-Day Workshop or s Half-Day Workshop to jump-start your skills, or get back into Spanish after years of absence! Progress rapidly by taking a Four-Part Series for more total immersion!

Take the Workshops in combination with other studies, or by themselves -- either way, you will not experience anything like this anywhere else! Immersion is an essential part of language-learning, and our Workshops are uniquely creative, stimulating, and productive.

Our WEEKEND en español® Workshop Series is designed to teach you to think in Spanish from the start, and to give you the opportunity to actually use and strengthen your Spanish if you're coming to us with previous exposure to the language. One-Day Workshops are a full day of immersion, combining mini-lessons, verbal challenges, role-plays, cultural material, and lots of conversation. The chance to sustain your use of the language for a whole day is a remarkable experience -- you soon forget that you're speaking a "foreign language", and begin to think and work without English! There is nothing like a full day to impel you towards a break-though, and prove to yourself that you can do it! Placed in your appropriate Workshop level, you will be pushed to use what you already know and challenged to develop new skills rapidly through hands-on activities. From learning to identify and pronounce the Spanish language sounds to basic sentence structure; from understanding the verb system to the use of direct and indirect objects; from simple conversation to the subjunctive mode, you will gain skills in self-expression, advancing confidently and rapidly.

The Beginner and Intermediate One-Day Workshop Series are offered alternately each month as a Four Part Series. You may take the entire Series, or just one, two, or three Workshops. They are carefully sequenced, but you can easily plug yourself in at a level and date that work for you. Each Workshop offers a wide variety of skill-building activities-- and are different every time! You may take any single Workshop or the full series at your level, or any combination of levels or repeats of a level. Many of our students combine the Workshops with Evening Classes or Private Lessons. All our materials work together to help you have an integrated program, no matter how you chose to participate.

4-Step One-Day Beginner &

Intermediate Workshop Series

One-Day Workshops are held in San Francisco from 9 am to 4 pm, $150 each, or $500 for ANY 4. Lunch and materials are included. You may take any 1, 2, 3, 4 or more of these workshops! Please follow the schedule link for our current one day workshop schedules.

Beginner 1: A true beginner's introduction to the sounds and structures of Spanish. Learn basic expressions and conversational material. Cover a wide range of vocabulary - body parts, clothing, foods, colors, numbers, time, weather, family, places and much more. This Workshop is packed with material, and is a splendid start for new beginners as well as those who need to refresh long-lost knowledge before going on.

Beginner 2: An introduction to the verb system, building skills in conversation using the present tense, -- with the focus primarily on regular verbs. Review and reinforcement of Beginner 1 material, and a continuation of learning to work with basic sentence structures. Some prior knowledge is presumed. A good workout!

Beginner 3: Build further on present tense skills, adding the irregular and stem-changing forms to your repertoire. Working from our master list of 400 essential verbs, you're aiming for a solid foundation of the most commonly needed verbs, as well as core conversational vocabulary. You begin to feel the strength of your knowledge, your ability to manipulate words and structures for your own ideas.

Beginner 4: A beginner's "round-up" - review and reinforce beginner level vocabulary and skills. Continued work with present tense verbs. More independent production of language, and lots of interactive application of your knowledge. A chance to solidify what you have learned, and gain confidence before starting the past tenses in the Intermediate Series.

Intermediate 1: An introduction to the preterite and imperfect past tenses. Regular and irregular forms are stressed in a variety of contexts. We also work on vocabulary-building and self-expression in a number of topics. A solid foundation in the past tenses for anyone who seeks to become fluent — a cornerstone for progress!

Intermediate 2: Continued work on the preterite and imperfect tenses, concentrating on irregular form, and the separate and combined application of both. We also address reflexive verbs, indirect and direct objects. Reinforcement of conversation and application of general skills.

Intermediate 3: An introduction to the present perfect and pluperfect tenses. Reinforcement and application of all the basic tenses, especially the past. Vocabulary-building and fuller self-expression are stressed. This workshop is a must for those who have studied the past tenses but not yet reached mastery.

Intermediate 4: An introduction to the future and conditional tenses and a peek at the subjunctive mode, and how they compare and interact with the other tenses -- a real overview of the verb system. Further opportunities to secure your high intermediate level skills. More accurate, more sophisticated, and more personal self-expression are the goals.
