Español Médico/Medical Spanish WorkshopIn the health care field, especially here in California, there are simply not enough Spanish interpreters available to help health care professionals communicate with their Latino patients. Many professionals are adept at picking up some Spanish "on the job", but really need a chance to concentrate on learning it properly, and away from the pressures of the work situation. WEEKEND en español® offers medical personnel total immersion, hands-on Spanish language One-Day Workshops to help you acquire and sharpen your communication skills with Latinos. Open to people of ALL levels of Spanish ability, our immersion medical events will put even beginning speakers on the right track. We provide specific medical vocabulary and insight for working with the Latino Community. The ratio of students to instructors is kept low to give you individual attention from our staff. Class size is 3-8 participants. You'll have a chance to role-play typical scenarios, as well as ask specific questions particular to your circumstances. Our courses are supplemented by a rich packet of materials that you will use long after the event is over, for reference and further study. These courses have been designed by Ronda Calef, founder and director of WEEKEND en español®, in conjunction with Barbara Newlin, nurse practitioner and AIDS consultant for the World Health Organization, and Dr. Tomás Magaña, 1995 graduate of UCSF Medical School. Medical Spanish Workshop New Medical Spanish offerings are available for Social Workers & OB/Gyn Workshops may be taken together or seperately. |
